Due to the huge amount written about the role of the right side of the brain in creativity and the number of so called experts claiming that people are either right-brained or left-brained it is easy to get the impression that this is actualy true. Even serious neuropsychology researchers get caught up in the excitement. Despite a large number of studies using neuroimaging techniques (brain scans, and EEG) theses claims remain unfounded. A recent review of all the research on neuroimaging and creativity showed that there is no support at all for any notion that creativity happens in the right brain. (Dietrich and Kanso, 2010)
So, if you work in the field of creativity as a consultant or educator do yourself a favor and stop simplifing creativity by erronious claims that it is all about the right brain.
